Dorset Opera Festival 2021

Ruby Bircher was an absolute star. She came into a very hectic job with quite a lot of technical stuff going on and got stuck right in. The BAMM training really shone through! It’s another testament to the professionalism and work ethic that [BAMM’s] students leave with so thank you for putting her in touch!

Nora: A Doll’s House

Ruby worked on the hair & make-up for Bath Theatre Academy’s 2021 production of Nora: A Doll’s House. She was a joy to work with – professional, reliable, adaptable and skilled. She successfully executed a whole range of looks, ranging from 60s eye make-up and beehives to interwar period hairstyles.

Ruby is a highly skilled makeup artist with experience in prosthetics and special effects. She is talented, professional and I could not recommend her more!

Teaching Ruby has been an absolute pleasure.  During her time here at BAMM, Ruby has obtained an immaculate 100% time keeping and attendance record throughout. During the course modules, Ruby has demonstrated the ability to always work within given call times, her modular shoots are always well thought out and organised and her makeup and hair abilities are exceptional. Ruby is driven and determined and she is not scared to turn her hand to any given discipline, always trying new techniques and pushing the boundaries to create complex pieces for her portfolio.

During the Covid stand-down, Ruby practiced an impressive number of looks which required using skills previously learnt and others yet to obtain. Some of these looks were tasks set by Peter Swords King for which he was very impressed. However, Ruby also created a tremendous amount of work on her own initiative which has only continued to prove her clear passion and dedication to perusing her career as a Makeup Artist.

I have no hesitation in recommending Ruby. She is a smiley, friendly and quietly confident personality, and will be an asset to the makeup department and the perfect trainee within a team.
